We all know that there is no promised tomorrow and my life work is making sure you & your family have these pieces of time preserved to treasure. The last time I ever saw my father alive was the night I introduced him to my husband Daniel. Before we left my dad insisted on a group photo to commemorate the occasion, on film no less, and I am eternally grateful to have those two precious frames to show my kids a photo of their grandpa and their parents together just that one time. I believe with every fiber of my being that "Take the damn photo" runs so much more deeper than anyone really embraces in the moment, and that we need to document our lives not just only for our kids but also for ourselves. The biggest reason I hear for not doing this is "We didn't have time", "I wish we could have afforded it" and "We just put it off too long". Life is so messy my friends, it's the most beautiful combination of joy and pain and yet perfection in the fleeting moments. Slow down for 5 minutes, come just as you are, and preserve a moment in time that says "We were here, we loved with fire, and we were happy."
